The Club at Natirar
Blending Two Historic Gems in Somerset County
“Hamilton Farm Golf Club and Natirar
offer New Amenities to their Members”
(Gladstone, NJ - OCTOBER 2010) There are a very few grand estate homes that have been transformed into commercial applications that remain connected and true to their history and reminiscent of a time gone by. Natirar, built in 1912 by Walter G. Ladd, and Hamilton Farm, built in 1911 by James C. Brady, both in Somerset County, New Jersey, are two shining examples of such adaptive reuse. Natirar, most recently home to the King of Morocco, is now home to a luxury culinary and wellness resort facility, and Hamilton Farm has been recreated as an exclusive 36-hole private golf club. Together these world-class establishments have formed a reciprocal membership program which promises to provide the best offerings of both private clubs for the benefit of their respective current and future members.
Separated by a mere three miles, these two properties occupy nearly 1,100 acres of land less than an hour from New York City. Winding through Somerset County’s magnificent hardwood forests and opening up to highlands with vistas that seem to stretch forever, both properties offer experiences of the very highest caliber. Through this new pairing, Natirar’s members have the opportunity to join the par-3 Hickory Course at Hamilton Farm, and Hamilton Farm members are offered access to Natirar’s pools, tennis courts, fitness center and other exclusive amenities through joining with a reduction in deposit price. The collaborators believe that Hamilton Farm and Natirar perfectly complement one another, as one has golf and the other has everything but!
Natirar Owner, Bob Wojtowicz comments, “The Club at Natirar is constantly striving to offer its members unique activities and experiences – the Hickory Course at Hamilton Farm is the only USGA rated par-3 course in the country and we are extremely lucky to have it in our backyard to be able to provide our members and guests with such a one-of-a-kind experience.”
The Hickory Course at Hamilton Farm, with a full eighteen holes, is designed to challenge every golfer’s favorite shot. Course architect Dana Fry says, “if there’s a better par-3 course in America, I’d like to know where it is.” Holes play uphill and downhill, over ponds and wetlands, through the trees, over deep ravines and meadows so each is distinctly unique. The Hickory Course is often referred to as a “Hidden Gem” in Somerset County. Hamilton Farm’s Highlands Course is home to the Sybase Match Play Championship, an LPGA event that will be held at the Club for the second consecutive year in May 2011.
“Hamilton Farm is proud to align ourselves with The Club at Natirar, as our member golfing experience will now be enhanced by the health and wellness opportunities offered by Natirar,” says Tim Bakels, General Manager & COO of Hamilton Farm Golf Club. “We look forward to continually building this relationship.”
